Clean Coasts engages communities in the protection of Ireland’s beaches, seas and marine life. The programme is operated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce and is currently funded by the Department of the Housing, Planning, Community & Local Government and Fáilte Ireland. Clean Coasts is made up of two main elements; Clean Coasts Volunteering and the Green Coast Award. http://cleancoasts.org/

What's Involved

There are lots of ways that you can get involved and help in the promotion of sustainability, protecting our environment and being Green Aware.

GLAN is a community driven and its main objective is to enable communities to liaise with local businesses to help them make environmentally friendly changes to how they operate. We are currently looking for volunteers to form a GLAN Sligo group. The main aim of the group is to help businesses in the town become more environmentally friendly. Volunteers will be expected to visit businesses in Sligo and ask them to take on a pledges that will minimise their environmental impact, such as reducing their single-use plastic, printing ; instead of single page consider double side photocopying, being energy aware - lights heat etc.
