Aims of Aware Aware is a national charity, that undertakes to create a society, where people affected by stress, depression, Bi-polar and other mood disorders are understood , supported, free from stigma and are encouraged to access appropriate therapies. The Aware support group in Sligo meets in Markievicz house every Wednesday at 8pm.

What's Involved

The Facilitator’s role includes welcoming people who attend AWARE meetings; facilitating the group according to Aware’s ethos; enabling all attendees to participate in the meeting; offering literature and accurate information and other duties as outlined in the full volunteer role description available on www.Aware.ie

Each facilitator does 3-4 weeks and has approx. 2 months off until they are next on the rota.

Minimum commitment is 18 months. Volunteers must be available to attend training in Galway on 23rd & 24th July and 10th September 10am to 4.30pm. Aware will cover accommodation up to €80 per night and a train/bus fare.

What's required for this position

A support group volunteer Faciliator will have empathy and good communication skills, have an ability to take direction and possess enthusiasm, passion and energy. The volunteer must be respectful of others and be willing to make a commitment to volunteering with Aware.
