Tutor of basic internet skills to adults

Sligo Leader Partnership

About Sligo Leader Partnership

Sligo LEADER Partnership Company was formed in 1996 in an effort to address locally the issues of economic and social under development in Sligo. Sligo LEADER Partnership Company is responsible for delivering programmes which are aimed at improving the quality of life for the people of Sligo.

What's Involved

Volunteer Tutors are required to teach basic computer skills (funded by Dept. of Communications under the Digital Skills for Citizens). The course participants will be adults who would like to learn how to use the internet for a variety of tasks, or brush up existing skills. Totaling five 2 hour sessions, the course covers sending emails, online transactions, searching topics of interest, using Skype, using smartphones & tablets, apps etc. Most people come to class with their own devices.
It is envisaged that the volunteer tutors will run the sessions once or twice a week, depending on availability of trainer and venue, in two hour slots.

The trainer will teach 5 or 6 trainees per session; one-to-one training is encouraged.

Training manuals will be provided by Sligo Leader Partnership. There will be an induction day for all trainers prior to commencement to outline the aim of the programme and answer any questions.

This programme runs regularly in locations county wide but currently we are only looking for trainers in Sligo town, Ballymote, Tubbercurry and possibly Collooney (depending on interest).

Courses generally run in the mornings 10.30am -12.30pm. Sligo town will likely have a second course running 2-4pm in the afternoon and if Collooney goes ahead it will be evening.
