Volunteer to help at Saturday Morning Parkrun

Sligo Park Run

About Sligo Park Run

Sligo parkrun provides a free 5km time run every Saturday morning at 9.30am. The aim of the organisation is to include people who are less likely to attend local races/events due to a variety of reasons but that might like to get out into a social setting with other like minded people for a 5k walk/run. Sligo parkrun happens largely because of our fantastic volunteers, who are almost all regular runners like you. The weekly team of volunteers are led by a small group of parkrun enthusiasts who form what we call the 'core team': They make sure the event is setup and packed away each week, the results published, the tokens resorted, event reports written and so much more. We're very grateful to the help provided by everybody, both now and in the past, who've helped make Sligo parkrun happen. Event Director - Jim Rushe

What's Involved

Currently we're not running due to the COVID19 crisis but if interested please hit 'register interest' below and we will contact you. We will definitely need volunteers when Park Run resumes.

Volunteers can help out on the Saturdays that suit them and they won't be committed to being there on weeks that don't suit. From 9.00 - 10.30 am the volunteer could be carrying out any of the following tasks: timekeeping, finish token distribution, bar-code scanning or marshaling. Full training is given each Saturday morning prior to the commencement of the run and volunteers can let us know if they are uncomfortable doing any particular tasks and will be given a task they are more comfortable with.

It is important to note that we are trying to build up a list of volunteers who can volunteer for the Saturdays that suit them. Volunteers can also participate in the run.
