Join the Sligo Volunteer Centre Choir for 'Sligo Sings'

Sligo Volunteer Centre

About Sligo Volunteer Centre

We help people who want to volunteer as well as non-profit groups who need volunteers.

For non-profit groups we provide one-to-one support on all aspects of how to find and keep volunteers of varying interest and skills. We run training courses and workshops on issues concerning all aspects of volunteering and facilitate quarterly Volunteer Co-ordinators Get Togethers and provide a Garda Vetting service. We also advertise groups' volunteer vacancies and refer potential volunteers to them for selection.

For the general public who are thinking of volunteering, we provide a database of current options available in Sligo (and nationwide). We also provide friendly group Volunteer Information Sessions along with one-to-one guidance to help people find satisfying and rewarding volunteering roles. Find out more at www.volunteersligo.ie

What's Involved

We are inviting people to join Sligo Volunteers Centre's Choir which will be nurtured and coached by one of the Hawk's Well Theatre Choirmasters. The choir will be performing as part of 'Sligo Sings' in the Hawk's Well on Saturday 23rd of November at 8pm. All singers must be available for the performance date and for a rehearsal with the band that afternoon. Practice will be one hour a week, Monday lunchtimes 1.00 -2.00pm in the Presbyterian Hall in Sligo town every Monday from Sept 23rd. It is essential you can make the vast majority of the practices and be available all day on the day of performance as there will be rehearsals during the day. (We won't know our rehearsal slot until closer to the time, show starts at 8pm).

Each choir will perform an individual contemporary song and then all will join together for the finale song as one major Sligo Sings choir. You do not need any singing experience and there is no audition!

If you would like to join our choir, please click 'Apply Now' or phone us on 071-9111042.
We are especially welcoming of new male members and of people who volunteer or work in the community/voluntary sector, but anyone over 18 is welcome to join. Here's a clip of the grand finale performance from 2015 when all the choir's came together to perform Coldplay's 'Fix You':
