About Gairdín Gort A Choirce
The aims of The Gortahork Community Garden / Gairdín Gortahork Pobail will be:
• To increase the skills and confidence of local people to grow their own food
• To raise awareness of the connections between sustainability, food, health and wellbeing
• To engage with all sections of the community
• To be financially sustainable through social enterprise and collaboration
• To promote traditional, ecological and natural methods and techniques
What's Involved
Gairdín Gort A Choirce is a new community group set up @OURganic Gardens , Co Donegal . We are looking for people interested in helping run a 'Green' social enterprise project @ Gairdín Gort A Choirce . The SEED Project will run from Jan 2017 to April 2017 . The SEED Project (Social Enterprise Empowering Development) volunteers will be growing vegetable and bee friendly plant packs for community gardens and tidy town groups.
All the vegetables are sourced organic seeds and the flowers are all RHS pollinator friendly approved. All plants are grown in organic peat free seedling compost.
We are running the project to promote the All Ireland Pollinator Plan and to work with community groups who can in turn help us sustain our community group. FOR the community BY the community.
What's required for this position
No Skills required just an interest in gardening , Biodiversity , Social Enterprise and Having Fun Outdoors . All training will be provided .
