Sligo Social Services Council Ltd. is a voluntary company, limited by guarantee, established to respond to the needs of individuals, families and communities in the Sligo region promoting justice, equality and the dignity of the human being. Volunteers are central to the work of Sligo Social Services. Volunteers work alongside professional staff to deliver vital services to those in need.
What's Involved
Open Access Volunteer. The main role of the volunteer will be to be a support person for a drop in service.
The volunteer will be responsible for giving general advice, information and support in relation to whatever issues that the person presents with. These are typically financial issues, assistance with payments/entitlements, housing and homelessness, and services for drug and/or alcohol supports. The volunteer will undergo training and be supported by the Coordinator of the service.
What's required for this position
It would be desirable if the volunteer had some experience in the welfare sector, yet not essential as we provide training.
