About Sanctuary Runners Sligo
The Sanctuary Runners enable Irish People to run alongside, and in solidarity with, those in Direct Provision thereby fostering friendship, positivity and respect while bringing greater awareness to the system in which asylum seekers live. A non-profit organisation run solely by volunteers we aim to use sport, and running in particular, to build bridges between communities and to show we are all equal.
What's Involved
We are running the Benbulben 5km Road Race on New Years Eve - Saturday 31st December 2022!
We would love you to join us.
Walkers start at 10.30am and runners start at 11am.
All you need is to send an email and we will provide a free running top on the day.

We are non-political and our focus is on humanitarianism and positive action. The positive impact of physical exercise and the normality brought by running shoulder-to-shoulder with others benefits asylum seekers and Irish runners alike.Let your feet do the talking and show Solidarity.
We want to build a wave of positivity in which people, no matter their nationality, religion, gender or legal status, can show respect and dignity to each other and become friends and running mates.Also To have a bit of craic, laugh and show the real us!!!
What's required for this position
Friendly, open and fun! We want the sanctuary runners to see the real Sligo Community and get fit and healthy at the same time. Fit enough to walk/jog 5km.
